Our community – Vibrant & family-oriented

Our vibrant school is made up of families, staff, alumni and our growing local community.

Developing school spirit – House System

Houses meet in House assemblies each week. Student House Leaders play an active role at these assemblies as well as taking on leadership responsibilities. All Houses will support a charity from outside the school community that aims to foster in students a sense of community responsibility.

Whole School Assemblies, Primary and College Assemblies, Senior Student Assemblies and House Assemblies are a feature of Sunderland. Assemblies are times when we get to meet and share the special ethos of our School and promote our students’ many talents and successes.

Parents and friends

Parents and Friends is a committee run by volunteers, all, unsurprisingly, are friends or families of the school! The committee raises funds to cover items of benefit to the students that are not covered by school fees. In the past this has included such things as donations to the school ball, shade sails over playgrounds, cricket nets, and the planting of a hedge for privacy at the front of the primary playground.

A community connected by a common goal

All our parents, staff and students are connected by a common goal: to ensure all our students develop a passion for learning with a holistic approach so that our students grow up to be well-rounded individuals when they leave ACG Sunderland.

Sunderland on service

The Sunderland student leadership team organise two annual service and two annual charity events every year. These events get the whole school working together towards a common goal that benefits the school or wider community. Service is one of the cornerstone characteristics of an ACG Sunderland student. Our leaders from the Primary and College are always motivated to get the whole school working towards meaningful projects. Past events include students washing police vehicles, making letters for Starship patients and fundraising for the primary school gardens.
